Book launch ceremony (Historian Ammar Muhammad Jahidar, a research experience, a memorial book):
On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at exactly six o’clock in the evening, the Libyan Center for Research and Studies held a book launch ceremony entitled (Historian Ammar Muhammad Jahidar, a research experience, a memorial book), at the center’s headquarters in the Andalusia neighborhood in Tripoli. The opening was with verses from the Holy Qur’an, the Libyan national anthem, then a speech by the head of the Libyan Center for Research and Studies, Professor Mahmoud Al-Ghatmi, in which he reviewed the stages of completing the book, and that it was originally an honorary symposium held for the celebrated personality on July 17, 2019. The book’s editors collected the research and testimonies presented at the symposium, and some research was added to it that its owners wrote to enrich the book. It was completed, edited and printed. It contains ten research papers, an extended dialogue with Professor Historian Jahidar, and three contemporary testimonies. It is located in 357 pages. The second intervention in the ceremony was for the honored personality, Professor Ammar, and at the beginning of his speech he thanked the Libyan Center for Research and Studies, and that the center has been active in the scientific and cultural aspect since its establishment and has become a well-known name that is referred to. He also thanked the editors of the book: Professor Mahmoud Al-Ghatmi and Professor Jamal Duwish, for their great efforts in collecting, coordinating and editing the book’s materials. He also noted and thanked in this intervention the parties that honored him during the past years, such as the Yarmouk Sports and Cultural Club in Janzour during the Janzour Cultural Days Festival in January 2016, the Libyan Center for Research and Studies in 2019, the Faculty of Arts at the University of Tripoli, the Libyan Arabic Language Academy, and the Ghadames Manuscripts Association in this year 2024. The ceremony session was chaired by Professor Dr. Al-Mabrouk Mahmoud Saleh from the University of Tobruk, and the third intervention in this celebration was made available to Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Sadiq Al-Khazmi to present a critical reading of the honored book, in which he spoke about the book’s divisions into three sections, and about the works of Professor Ammar Jahidar in the service of Libya’s cultural history, through books, research, lectures, book editing, and manuscript investigation. Dr. Al-Khazmi stated that Professor Jahidar’s method of writing the margins of his investigations or works is considered a composition on composition, as it is rich in information and benefits and is cast and formulated in a condensed and concise style. The lecturer noted that Professor Jahidar has a special interest in his research, which he participates in some seminars and conferences, and often worked on developing them into independent books, such as what he did with his book (Al-Talisi as a Historian), his book (Sheikh Abdul Salam Al-Tajouri), and his book (Amoura School and Corner in Janzour), as they were originally research that he presented in scientific participations, and with the passage of years and the availability of source materials, he developed them into books that were issued in print during the past years. At the end of the symposium, the head of the Libyan Center for Research and Studies presented the book to the honored figure, and presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Sadiq Al-Khazmi for his valuable participation. The ceremony ended with a tea break during which he met most of the researchers participating in the book.
