Cultural Magazines and Literary Supplements in Libya: History, Reality, and Future

The Libyan Center for Research and Studies organized a cultural symposium on Wednesday morning titled:

“Cultural Magazines and Literary Supplements in Libya: History, Reality, and Future”

The event was held as part of the Center’s ongoing cultural program aimed at documenting the trajectory of Libya’s cultural movement and highlighting its prominent figures and contributions.

The symposium opened with a welcoming speech delivered by the President of the Center, who greeted the attendees and emphasized the importance of documenting cultural supplements as an integral part of Libya’s literary and journalistic memory.

Honoring Distinguished Figures

During the opening session, the Center honored four distinguished personalities in recognition of their contributions to journalism and cultural life:

  • Mr. Al-Mahdi Youssef Kajiji
  • Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Warith
  • Prof. Dr. Abdullah Salem Melitan
  • Mr. Ramez Ramadan Al-Nuwairi

He addressed the challenges of sustainability and archiving facing cultural supplements in Libya.

“Milestones from My Journalistic Experience”
He shared key moments from his career in journalism and cultural work.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed Mallouda
“Al-Fusul Al-Arbaa Magazine: The Narrative of Literary Achievement in Libya”
He explored the magazine’s history and its role in documenting literary experiences in Libya.

The session was followed by a short break for Dhuhr prayer and lunch.
